Congratulations to John Tooke of Sokol Spirit and Maureen Stanko of Sokolice Tabor as the 2022 Presidents Award Recipients. Their dedication to their units and the district is well worth recognizing. A round of applause, please.
This is an award being offered to members since 1975 paid by the American Sokol Future Sokol Leaders Fund. The Merit Award is designed to assist American Sokol Members in their pursuit of higher education. This is for any member of the organization planning on going full-time to an accredited two-year or four-year college or university. Applicants for this award need not be limited to those who just recently graduated from high school. This year’s Central District winners are Andrew Bajek of Sokol Naperville Tyrs (pictured above with CD Educational Director Mike Dropka and CD President Rich Vachata), Dean Shrofe, and Jake Heetel, both with Sokol Spirit.
Each year the American Sokol Central District selects awardees from among many qualified applicants. The award of $1,000 is recognition of service to Sokol ideals over many years. After a review of all submitted material including a history of Sokol activity, participation, and continuing physical fitness Sokol education, the committee selects applicants that have demonstrated a dedication to the Sokol discipline. This year’s winners are Andrew Bajek of Sokol Naperville Tyrs and Dean Shrofe of Sokol Spirit.
