Mikaela Colagrossi for the Central District 2024 Anne Svec Merit Award
Each year the American Sokol Central District selects awardees from among many qualified applicants. The award of $1,000 is a recognition of service to Sokol ideals over many years. After a review of all submitted material including a history of Sokol activity, participation, and continuing physical fitness Sokol education, the committee selects applicants that have demonstrated a dedication to the Sokol discipline.
This is an award being offered to members since 1975 paid by the American Sokol Future Sokol Leaders Fund. The Merit Award is designed to assist American Sokol Members in their pursuit of higher education. This is for any member of the organization planning on going full-time to an accredited two-year or four-year college or university. Applicants for this award need not be limited to those who just recently graduated from high school.
Annually, the Presidents Awards are presented to individuals who volunteer their time and skills to their unit, district, and national levels, when needed. These individuals exemplify what it means to be an outstanding Sokol member.
This year’s winners are Sis. Carol Shrofe from Sokol Spirit and Br. Dan Bajek from Sokol Naperville Tyrs. Both have given much of themselves by contributing to the betterment of our organization as a whole.
Congratulations to you both!
